here is some more information about honey. this isnt actually from the newspaper but it is from a magizine called Growing Today.
a lady called Maureen Maxwell does honey tasting. (like wine tasting). she quotes, "Manuka Honey is like a full-bodied, dry red, herbaceous and tannic." she also quotes, " unlike a Manuka Honey a Pohutukawa Honey is like a fruity dessert wine, floral and sweet." the medicinal properties of Manuka Honey are now scientifically graded and expressed at the UMF (Unique Manuka Factory). it has been researched that honey is rich in minerals and vitamins so that makes it one of the few truly active ingredients in cosmetics. it also softens and moisturises skin.
you may not know this yet but herbs are basically made up of the same things as honey. they include some of the most attractive bee plants. some herbs are rich in nectar and highly scented and they feature bees favourite colours: blues, purples and yellows. the labiate herbs are amoung the best bee plants:thyme, marjoram, savoury, mints of all sorts and lots of other things.
Traditional honeys with slight herbal flavours include Rosemary honey from the south of france and spain, Eucalyptus honey from Australia, Scottish heather honey and english lime blossom honey.
